Aquarius New Moon Manifestation Guide

Rejoice over the first new moon of 2025! This is a blessing considering how harshly the year has started off for many — the Mars Retrograde has depleted energy levels, the Saturn-Pluto semi-square has brought about a number of destructive events as well as general upheaval, and we’re still simmering down from a tense Cancer Full Moon.

While the Mars Retrograde will carry on into late February, count on this Aquarius New Moon January 29 at 4:35am PT to revitalize you and open the door for new manifestations. While I’m on the topic of manifestation, remember that while we are always manifesting, it is typically most successful when we manifest according to the rhythms of nature — meaning it’s best to set plans in place on new moons and bring those plans to fruition by the time of the full moon. Right now, there’s a buzzworthy story percolating about a supposed “planetary alignment” on January 25th which is being touted as a magical portal of sorts. However, applying a critical eye to the event reveals that there has more accurately been a parade of planets for the past couple weeks, extending into February, and that the 25th itself holds no special significance.

Yesterday after dinner in San Diego County, I overheard people discussing their plans to conduct a ritual on the 25th. I wanted to chime in but held my tongue because I would never want to be killing the vibes! It’s fine for people to invent their own rituals and occasions, but again, I fear that this is a social media trend which is misleading people. Why on Earth would we want to be initiating something at the Balsamic Phase of a lunation cycle, with Saturn semi-square Pluto no less!

Anyways, whatever your plans are, I am strongly recommending you ignore the January 25th hogwash (which is even more irrelevant than the annual Lions Gate charade) and that you instead take it easy until January 29th, at which point there is absolutely a fantastic opportunity to begin moving forward with something innovative, ambitious, and unconventional in the House of your Birth Chart that is Aquarius-Ruled (use a Whole Sign House system).

This new moon stands out because the modern ruler of Aquarius, Uranus, is stationing direct the next day, at which point it will begin its march into the sign of Gemini by July (good news for Tauruses! And honestly good news for Geminis). Uranus can upend or overhaul certain aspects of our life and brings a high degree of unpredictability, however, this can and should be embraced because it can also free us from stagnation and elevate authenticity. And with these ongoing retrogrades, I’m sure you’ve felt stagnant at times!

So let’s celebrate this Aquarius New Moon by walking through a specific manifestation guide that acknowledges the tectonic shift represented by Uranus changing apparent direction in the sky.

Defining Traits of this New Moon

• New Moon Highlighting the New Era of Pluto in Aquarius: Unlike in 2024, Pluto ain’t leaving Aquarius and it won’t fully exit the sign of technology, social media, innovation, politics, aliens, communities and human rights until 2044! Symbolically, this year’s Aquarius New Moon therefore has a “no turning back” feel. We’re barreling forward into the future and so this is an ideal new moon to embark on a new journey that acknowledges this.

• Mercury conjunct Pluto: This conjunction can give us a penetrating intellect and keen perception of any previously hidden factors in a situation. It can sometimes unearth shocking secrets or psychic inferences. Leverage this conjunction on the new moon to investigate something that fascinates you. Identify an underlying pattern or truth that sets you apart from the crowd.

• Co-Ruler Saturn in Pisces: Saturn in Pisces has divorced some of us from reality or made us feel an unidentifiable sense of somberness or loss. This is all the more reason to use this Aquarius New Moon to inject some collaboration and social activity into our lives. This new moon can expose us to new ideas or perspectives that stimulate a hopefulness about the future.

• Co-Ruler Uranus Stationing Direct in Taurus: Uranus has been retrograde since September 1, 2024, forcing us to reflect on the unexpected changes that occurred in our lives for much of 2024. As it stations direct, Uranus accumulates a disproportionate level of power and influence in our psyches, encouraging us to advance forward with more unconventional ideas or plans. This new moon therefore supports new directions in life that defy arbitrary rules or limitations that we previously set for ourselves.

• New Moon trine Jupiter: The trine to Jupiter in Gemini amplifies the sense of optimism and the expansion of perspective. All the more reason to align our goal-setting and manifestations with this new moon.

• Mars square Chiron: Mars retrograde in Cancer square Chiron in Aries is the rough part about this new moon and suggests that perhaps some of your new ambitions will be met with resistance or frustration among those who are envious of your courage. Ignore the haters no matter how many there are!

Intention Setting Process

• Open a blank page in your journal on the morning, afternoon or evening of January 29th

• Set intentions according to the rubrics I provide for all 3 placements, giving priority to your Rising Sign unless you have the Sun & Moon in the same sign (at that point they have equal weight).

• Aim to manifest on two time scales — one intention should be capable of materializing by or around February 12 and another by or around August 9 which brings us to the Full Moon in Aquarius.

• Given that the New Moon is in Aquarius with added variable of Uranus stationing direct, innovation, community, social media, politics, authenticity, and technology serve as thematic backdrops. Make sure to track the Taurus-ruled House of your Birth Chart to identify the area where you will likely accelerate forward (discussed in the manifestation guide below).

• Phrase your intentions in the present tense (so that it is not a “desire” per se and you are not attached to the outcome) and express notions of gratitude and thankfulness so that you are already in the mentality required to attract the opportunity. Put simply, the opportunity has already arrived, you are just catching up to it along the timeline.

• Make sure you set these intentions as close to the exact moment of the new moon as possible (4:35am PT), however, if you want to be extra savvy about it, wait two hours until 6:35am PT to actually set the intentions because by that time, the moon will be in a partile trine to Jupiter (the planet of abundance).

• Accommodate and acknowledge the fact that Uranus is stationing direct in Taurus. While you’ll be launching something new in the Aquarius-ruled House of your Birth Chart, Uranus is moving forward in your Taurus-ruled House so you’ll have to alchemize these two factors (more on this in the guides below).
