Releasing Outdated Norms & Expectations
When: July 10, 2025
1:36 PM Pacific Time (Adjust for your local time zone)
The Capricorn Full Moon will shine a stark light on our responsibilities, commitments, and the structures we’ve built. Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, is the sign of discipline, long-term planning, and endurance. As with every Capricorn Full Moon, this is a moment to assess where we’ve been allocating our time and energy, as well as where we’ve been placing arbitrary limits on our growth.
As I just spoke about in a video today, the Capricorn Full Moon can also be a huge relief because it’s not occurring in the shadow of Pluto’s transit through Capricorn for the first time in well over a decade. If anything, it’s giving us permission to step into a new world that validates our unique, authentic contributions to society. We’re becoming less concerned with our public image and more so interested in exploring beyond any self-imposed limitations. We’re realizing we have access to the infinite inside ourselves, making us less likely to seek value through external means.
Not only is Pluto out of Capricorn for good, but Neptune is (temporarily) out of Pisces, helping us also move past the collective assumption that famous people represent some kind of archetypal ideal or that a brand, a business or a guru holds the keys to something valuable that we can’t find in ourselves. We’re relieving ourselves of the era defined by the pressure to imitate, conform or aspire to become someone we’re not.
I’m not saying this full moon won’t be tough in some ways, and it certainly won’t give people a shortcut to their ideal life — we still have to put in enormous effort, especially with Saturn days from stationing retrograde.
Indeed, this Full Moon will highlight where our efforts have been misplaced or misaligned. Have we taken on duties that no longer serve us? Have we committed to roles or relationships out of obligation rather than genuine alignment? The Full Moon offers us a chance to distinguish our commitments that are essential from the ones that we’ve unnecessarily tethered ourselves to.
Think of this as clearing out the garden: pulling weeds that choke growth while nurturing the plants that sustain us. Not all responsibilities are meant to be shed; some commitments hold deep value precisely because they require sacrifice. As Saturn reminds us, value often comes from the effort we put in and the alternative pathways we forgo. Just as a parent sacrifices leisure for the well-being of their child or a partner invests time to support their significant other, these sacrifices create meaning. However, in some cases we end up stifling our growth because we commit to something that isn’t aligned with us.
This Full Moon is not about retreating into fantasy or shirking all obligations. Instead, it’s about recalibrating. The house Capricorn rules in your natal chart will reveal where this recalibration is most needed. Reflect on the emotional revelations that surface and use them as a guide to realign your efforts with your true priorities.
The Steepening Incline of Saturn Retrograde
Two days after the Full Moon, Saturn—the ruling planet of Capricorn and therefore this Full Moon—stations retrograde in Aries. Saturn retrograde is akin to a steepening incline on the mountain we climb. When Saturn is direct, we often find a rhythm in our commitments, making progress toward our goals. However, the retrograde period amplifies the pressure, testing the resilience and authenticity of our obligations.
Consider a relationship that seemed effortless under Saturn direct. During the retrograde, mounting responsibilities or unexpected challenges may arise, prompting you to question its sustainability. Or think of a job you eagerly accepted that now feels overwhelming; the retrograde asks whether this role aligns with your long-term vision.
So in this sense, I won’t lie to you this is a period of reckoning. Saturn retrograde strips away illusions and demands we confront reality. Misaligned commitments will feel heavier, while those rooted in genuine purpose may endure, albeit with effort. The steepened incline may feel arduous, but it’s also an opportunity to ascend a more meaningful summit that reflects the work we've done to reinvent ourselves (I say reinvent because again, as opposed to more recent Capricorn Full Moons, this one is happening in a post-Pluto in Capricorn world).
Uranus in Gemini
Meanwhile, Uranus’ recent ingress into Gemini has electrified our collective consciousness, scattering thoughts and sparking fascination with new ideas. This transit propels us into a cerebral space where curiosity reigns, and no theory is sacred. It’s like we’re holding up an antennae that’s attuned to frequencies we’ve never heard before.
Historically, Uranus in Gemini has coincided with revolutions and societal upheaval. The American Revolution, the Civil War, and even World War II reflect the Uranian impulse in Gemini: a quest for freedom, equality and the dissemination of revolutionary ideas.
Uranus trines Pluto in Aquarius, a configuration that amplifies intellectual exploration but risks disconnection from the body and reality. On the one hand, we risk becoming so consumed by ideas that we give into the mob mentality or groupthink. Paradoxically, social media and content saturation numb us to revelations and reduce profound ideas to fleeting epiphanies.
So in one sense we’re becoming jaded by the content overload, and in another sense we risk losing touch with the 3D. Therefore my advice is to take time to really reflect on the information you’re consuming. Try and retain the memory of it before moving onto a new piece of content to preserve and appreciate the richness contained within the thought. And also ground yourself as much as possible so you can translate the ideas into your real life (otherwise they’re just ideas!), while also remaining pragmatic and not succumbing to extreme ideologies (let’s not repeat the more tragic aspects of the French Revolution).
