The Essence of Scorpio: Transmutation and The Conscious Use of Power

When you’re not aware of the shadow, the shadow controls you. And when you’re under the control of your shadow, you project this into your external environment and your shadow develops clever, insidious tactics to evade your grasp of it. Luckily, once a year we have Scorpio Full Moon to expose our shadows through often overwhelming emotional experiences. This torrent of emotions breaks down or ability to maintain a semblance of tight control over our lives. As we release this control, we stop feeding our shadow and we can redirect it towards transformation & enlightenment.

Once we calm the turbulent waters within, we arrive at a much deeper understanding of ourselves and we can then more thoroughly understand the psychological experiences of those around us and even help heal them. An evolved Scorpio energy sees and accepts the shadows in others and assists them in funneling the dark intensity upward towards the higher mind (basically passing the torch to the next sign, Sagittarius).

At the same time, Scorpios understand that there is a creative power behind the shadow side. Light and shadow counterbalance each other and this is one of the natural manifestations of our dualistic universe. Ignoring either side renders us incomplete, and ironically, in the dark. Furthermore, sometimes these shadows are merely made taboo by society, and what we perceive as uncouth is actually part of our raw power. Scorpio energy also allows us to merge with others in a transformational way and alchemize something greater. This merging can occur physically, financially, emotionally, or psychically.

This is a full moon for being brutally honest and to face the perceived “enemies” within or without. Stop hiding, and start living better. Come to terms with your own dark and light side, which ultimately helps you lead a more enlightened and successful life. To adapt a quote from Sun Tzu, know thy shadow and know thy light; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated. If you fully accept the darkest aspects of yourself, then no one can break you or control you.
