So The Solar Eclipse Just Happened...

Have you noticed anything yet? Perhaps not. Maybe you woke up as if it were another Wednesday. Maybe you opened your inbox with a bunch of emails from astrologers saying that your whole world is going through a tectonic shift.

On the other hand, some of you have I’m sure noticed major shifts or glitches in the fabric of your reality. The outcome largely depends on your chart. But for most who are reading this, the experience is probably somewhere in between these extremes. I think we’ve gone through enough lunations and eclipses in our lives to know it’s not so simple!

The solar eclipse will reveal its effects over the course of the next 5-6 months. Solar eclipses are synonymous with a new moon, except a lunar node is within close enough proximity to allow the Moon to obstruct the Sun’s light. This is because the North and South Node of the Moon mark the intersection of the Moon’s orbit with the ecliptic plane. Therefore, when the Sun and Moon either conjoin or oppose one another near this nodal axis, their orbits overlap to create a syzygy, or triple alignment between Sun, Moon and Earth. In the case of a Solar Eclipse, the Moon obstructs the Sun’s light from reaching parts of Earth for a brief period, while during a Lunar Eclipse, the Earth prevents the Sun’s light from reaching all or part of the Moon. Both types of eclipses signify a disruption in our flow of energy. The solar eclipse is more of a reboot, while the lunar eclipse dredges up unconscious materials and can be a more overwhelming purge of sorts.

Since the nodes are involved, it’s true that fated, karmic events can swoop in and redirect us on a different course. However, they often don’t make their influence fully known until many months after the solar eclipse, specifically when we witness the full moon that occurs in the same sign as the solar eclipse. In this instance, that carries us to the Leo Full Moon on January 22nd, 2027, with more immediate effects being felt during the upcoming partial lunar eclipse in Pisces on August 27th, 2026.

To underscore this, even if you didn’t feel anything change within you during today’s solar eclipse, in reality this is a months-long evolutionary process. While in ancient times eclipses foreshadowed a harrowing moment, in modern times we’ve come to see the vast permutations of these syzygies. Yes, they can act as a reset, and sometimes they do coincide with tragic or world-changing events.

But ultimately, you shouldn’t dread this solar eclipse in particular. Its presence alongside Jupiter in Leo is an offer to make space for the full spectrum of one’s creative capacities, to call in a more romantic phase of a relationship, or to reawaken one’s childlike joy.

Gemini: Your prolific communications skills could pay off during this eclipse. You might entertain a discussion with someone who has incredible social connections. Or you’ll reach out to someone about an opportunity and receive a reply. You might write a script, plot for a book or a song that eventually reaches a vast audience or has a touch of creative genius to it.

Cancer: This eclipse could translate to an expansion of monetary resources, or you’ll be reminded of the wealth of natural talents you have. You could even find a way to monetize those talents. Some of you will acquire a possession you value highly.

Leo: Things are really opening up for you on this solar eclipse. You’re approaching life with open arms and celebrating all the things that make it special. You’ll likely find it easier to be around people, and easier to express yourself. You’re reemerging from hibernation.

Virgo: You could find solace in a spiritual practice. Your queries could lead to some level of enlightenment. Others are letting go of a prior fixation on the smaller, petty concerns in life and are learning to appreciate the beauty of the connectedness of everything.

Libra: During this solar eclipse you are feeling more confident and your beauty is radiating. People are attracted to you, they want to spend time with you, so this is all to say: go to parties, go to social outings, meet new people. Your social network is expanding.

Scorpio: On this solar eclipse, your career is taking off, or you’re beginning a new professional journey that ignites your passion within. You’re either widening your public-facing reach or you’re receiving praise as an authority figure.

Sagittarius: Your voice, your ideas, your presence in any kind of communications context is expanding. You could publish something widely, teach others important lessons, or your story will resonate with a bigger audience. Others will enroll in a new educational program or go on a life-changing trip.

Capricorn: This eclipse could help you establish a new financial trajectory, either through your investments or a joint financial partnership. You might discover that a family member has a mountain of assets, and in rare cases you might find out you’re included on a will or receiving an inheritance.

Aquarius: The eclipse could be pretty fantastic for relationships. Others will go traveling with their partner or they’ll gain better perspectives from their partner on a certain subject, or they’ll see their partner in a more positive light.

This might stem from a job that’s more creative and interesting, or maybe you’re receiving accolades for a job well done. Other Pisces will adopt a pet or bring more pets into the family.
